Letter To Membership Regarding MoveFebruary 2, 2010
Dear JCC member and user,
We are writing to notify you that the JCC will be closing its facility at 4221 Pine Tree Drive effective February 9, 2010.
As many of you know, we have been working diligently to plan a new facility, one long needed by the Jewish community of Miami Beach. A full-service JCC will provide a range of programs including: a fitness center, a gym, an outdoor pool as well as activities for children, teenagers, older adults, boomers and singles.
We have come a long way in the process. We have received approvals by all of the formal review boards of the City of Miami Beach. We plan to start the permitting process with a full set of construction documents by late February. It is our hope that the permitting process will be completed by the end of the summer.
Critical to the success of creating a new center for you, and for our community, will be the completion of the Capital Fundraising Campaign. With the help of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, we are now two thirds of the way towards our fundraising goal. We need your help and the help of the community. We have professional fundraisers in place who are working closely with our board, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and other community leaders to finish the fundraising campaign by this coming summer.
In the interim, we will continue to operate as a "JCC without walls". After school programs, summer camp, Maccabi Games, winter and spring camp will all continue at different sites.
We have attached a Q&A sheet which addresses any questions you might have regarding the closing and MBJCC services.
A full service Jewish Community Center in Miami Beach, that serves the entire Jewish community, will bring positive benefits to every segment of our community. We appreciate your patience and hope and trust that you will support this important effort.
Sincerely,
Claudia Brod Stacey Gumenick Jay R. Roth Co-President Co-President Executive Director |
